Shalom
Family,
Yes, another week has
gone by...What the What!? Too fast if you ask me.
But not fast enough
for some.
So on Monday, I
have officially named it "Miracle Monday", a lot of
stuff happened!
After we mailed home,
we went to our abode. As soon as we got there, Mr. Kim called us! Needless to
say I was surprised. He told us he wanted to meet with us that day. We
said "yes" and made a time to meet him. We had to push our member
visit to a little bit later. Before Mr. Kim, we had a dinner appointment with a
past investigator. She had met with the missionaries some time ago, and we had
met with her once before and she invited us to eat some of her great cooking.
Yes, we were all over that. So we went to her apartment and we
brought one of our members with us. She fed us and showed us pictures and we
talked for a while then she started talking about her husband (who had
died some years earlier). As she was talking about him, our member said
"He must be in Celestial Kingdom" she asked what that was, so we
taught the plan of salvation. It was a really spiritual experience.
She was really interested, so we got a return appointment! Then after we
met with her, we ran to Mr. Kim's Shop to meet with him. He told us he was
having really tough times, and that he prayed to God to help him. We
encouraged him and told him to keep going and never stop. He said ok. After
that meeting, I and Elder Willoughby were kinda bummed, because of his
situation. So we made our way over to a member’s house. We were going to stop
by and say good bye to one of the family members (who we have only met once) she
was going to live in Canada for a while.
So as we get there, we
discover the member and her family live on the top floor of
an apartment building. Apartment buildings are super nice here,
you have to punch in a key-code to get in. We didn't know the code so
we called them on the intercom. The intercom made a loud noise and the door
slid open, and we bopped in as fast as we could. We went to their door and knocked;
as soon as the door opened our member (who is an older member) saw us and said “Oh
Sungyosaneem (missionaries) come in! Come in! We tried to say we were
just going to share a message and say good bye to the family member, but she
kept telling us to come in! So we went inside. At first we could here dogs
barking, we looked at each other and said "oh no"! We saw 5
little white dogs looking at us. We thought we were dead missionaries. But they
came running and jumping tails wagging, and trying to play with us. We later
found out that when company arrives that their dogs bark and bite. They
were surprised to see them calm and happy. We sat on the ground and
they came and played with us. (Remind you of a certain someone who was
thrown in to a den of lions?) As we sat on the ground we talked with our
member. Her family (son, his wife and
daughter) were in the kitchen doing something. The Son (who is about 50) comes
out with two big cups of cocoa. We expressed many
thanks! Then His wife brought out corn dogs and donuts,
we kept saying that its ok, but they were just too nice. As we got
talking with the family we learned about them. The Son is a renowned
photographer and his wife makes books for moms to teach their kids how to be
multi lingual. They are really well-off. As we started to talk
with the family we already knew that the son was in-active and that he
felt pressure from missionaries. But as we got talking all we could
feel was love and kindness. They were awesome. It truly was a miraculous day!
The rest of the week
is not as amazing haha.
Tuesday we did go to
the temple and that was really spiritual. Then for the rest of P-day we
did ICE SKATING!! I’m no good but I did not fall once… so that was good. We also watched a hockey game. So cool! Every
time someone made a goal I did the thing from strange brew, the cooing
sound they make. It was awesome.
On Thursday we
did a combined activity with other missionaries and as we were talking with
people. We ran into an Asian Joseph Smith! He told us his conversion story. It
was Joseph Smith’s story! Then I and Elder Porter (our Zone leader)
talked with this one guy, who told Elder Porter that he should marry his
daughter. He gave Elder Porter her number and left. We
were laughing so hard.
But other than that,
just the Lords work going on here in little ol' Korea
I love you all
